What is the Furniture Recycling Project?
The Furniture Recycling Project is a non-profit
making organisation with a board of trustees run by a project manager, a small staff and
a team of willing volunteers. The volunteers comprise a wide range
of people, including people actively seeking employment, people
on Government training schemes, adults with learning disabilities
and retired people bringing their skills to the Project.
We aim to recycle furniture and household items
to disadvantaged groups, such as people who are unemployed, single
parents, elderly, disabled, on a low income etc, throughout the
county of Gloucestershire.
We achieve this by collecting items directly
from the public, free of charge. The items are then inspected, and
where possible, refurbished, to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness
standards.
The goods can be bought
(at a very small charge) directly from our Gloucester
and Cheltenham warehouses. The charge is
made purely to offset the cost of the vehicles, staff wages, warehouse
rent, insurance's etc).
How can I donate furniture or household items?
If
you live in the Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Stroud area and have furniture or household
items you wish to donate, then please contact
us by phone or email and we can arrange for it to be collected
free of charge.
How can I buy furniture or household items?
If you are, or know of someone who is from a
disadvantaged group, and have a need for clean, affordable furniture
or household items, come along to our warehouses in Gloucester
or Cheltenham to see what is available.
The goods can be bought for a very small charge. Free delivery is offered on total purchases of £25 and over, for purchases under £25 a charge of £5 will be made. If you are not in at the agreed date, a charge of £5 will be made for each re-delivery. Times cannot be agreed.
As
stock continually changes, it is not possible to maintain an up
to date list on this website. However, we do have an Buying
Guide which provides a list of the types of furniture and
household items we do recycle, together with an idea of the average
prices charged.
